When God Has Already Spoken

February 10

In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways. Hebrews 1:1

One of the patterns I notice in my own life is this, I’m often waiting for God to say something new, when He’s actually inviting me to listen again to what He has already said.

A fresh word feels reassuring. And the new thing can feel like progress. But Scripture reminds us that God is not silent, forgetful, or unclear. Hebrews begins with the reminder of this truth, God has spoken.

He has spoken patiently, over time, in ways His people could hear and understand. Often with much repetition to help the points to hit home. And often, the issue is not that God hasn’t spoken, but that we haven’t yet given ourselves the space to fully receive what He has already said or revealed.

This Selah moment is about remembering and looking back over the recent weeks and noticing where God has already been at work, shaping, challenging, and inviting us to go deeper and draw closer to Him.

Some truths just take time to settle. And words need to be revisited. Clarity comes when we slow down and stop rushing ahead.

Today is an invitation to rest in the confidence that God has already been faithful in speaking. And as we pause, we prepare, not by chasing the next thing, but by allowing His Word to continue its work within us.

God has already spoken. The grace is learning to listen again.

Prayer

Father God,
Thank You that You are a God who speaks with patience and purpose. Help us today to remember what You have already shown us.

Help us to slow down and quiet our hearts. Teach us to listen again with trust. As we pause, prepare us for what lies ahead.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
