Returning to What Stirred the Heart
February 11
But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. Luke 2:19
There are moments when God speaks or acts in a way that stirs something deep within us. A sense of awe. A quiet conviction. A moment of clarity that feels both fragile and profound.
And then life tends to move on.
Luke tells us that Mary did something different. She didn’t rush to explain what had happened. She didn’t try to organise it or resolve it too quickly. She treasured these things, and she pondered them in her heart.
That word “pondered” carries the sense of holding something carefully, turning it over slowly, allowing it to settle. Mary understood that some things God does are not meant to be hurried. They are meant to be ruminated on and returned to.
In this Selah moment, we are invited to do the same. To return to what stirred our hearts in recent weeks. To remember the scriptures that lingered, the questions that surfaced, the nudge that stayed with us longer than we might have expected.
Not everything God shows us is meant to be acted on immediately. Some things need time. Allowing truths to deepen as we revisit them. And some invitations from God are clarified as we reflect. Take the time.
Today is an invitation to treasure again what God has already placed within you. To sit with it and hold it gently. To trust that God will continue to reveal what it means in His time.
And the beauty is that these treasures will be different for each of us, as our amazing God works in our hearts to bring about His purposes.
Returning to what stirred the heart is how faith grows roots, not instantly, but patiently, and deeply.
Prayer
Father God,
Thank You for the moments when You have stirred our hearts. Help us not to rush past them or forget them. Teach us to treasure what You have shown us and to reflect on them with patience and trust. As we pause, continue Your work within us.
In Jesus mighty name we pray, Amen.
