Selah: Gratitude Before Moving On
February 15
Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all His benefits. Psalm 103:2
There is something really important about gratitude.
I know how easy it is to want to move on quickly and to begin the next thing. To turn the page and press forward. But Scripture reminds us not to forget or rush past what God has already done.
“Forget not all His benefits.”
The heart forgets more quickly than we would hope or realise. We forget the prayers that were answered and the ways God has sustained us. The truths in His word that corrected us and those moments that steadied us when we felt uncertain.
This first week of Selah has been about remembering that God has spoken. Returning to what stirred the heart, while allowing truth time to settle. Learning again that trust grows slowly, over time.
and before we move into a new week, and step further into what God is preparing for us, it feels right to pause again and give thanks.
Because gratitude anchors us.
It keeps striving from creeping back in, and it guards us from assuming we have arrived on our own strength. Gratitude softens our hearts so that we remain ready for whatever God wants to do next.
Today is simply about thanking Him. Thanking God for His patience with us. Thanking Him for His Word that guides us. Thanking Him for the work He is doing, even when we cannot fully yet see the full picture.
We move forward best when we move forward with a grateful heart.
Selah.
Prayer
Father God,
Thank You for all You have already done in us through us and around us. Thank You for Your patience with us, Your Word, and Your faithful presence. Guard us from our forgetfulness.
As we prepare to step into a new week, anchor our hearts in gratitude and trust.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
