Layers of Wonder, Eyes That Refuse to See

"As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things." - Ecclesiastes 11:5

Understanding

In this age of advanced knowledge and scientific discovery, we marvel at how far human understanding has come.

We can peer into the depths of the atom and the reaches of space. We can map the human genome and trace the dance of cells forming in the womb. And yet, even with all we know, we are only just brushing the surface.

The wisdom of Ecclesiastes reminds us, that there are depths of understanding that we cannot fathom. We do not know the path of the wind, nor how life forms in the secret places. And if we cannot grasp these visible wonders, how much more are the works of God, the Creator of all things, beyond our understanding? Creation is layered with mystery, purpose, and beauty. Every flower blooming, every breeze that stirs the trees, every heartbeat within the womb. These are the fingerprints of a Creator God who is not distant, but intimately involved.

He crafted this intricate world not only to function but to reveal His heart. His fingerprints are not just marks of design, they are invitations. Each wonder whispers, “You are not alone. You are loved. Come closer.” And yet, many look upon the same wonders and see only chance. Eyes wide open, yet hearts closed. The problem is not evidence, it’s posture. Pride seeks explanation without a Creator. But humility opens the door to awe, worship, and relationship.

Romans 1:20 says it clearly

“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.”

The more we learn, the more we should wonder. The more we discover, the more we should fall to our knees in worship. Because all of creation, every atom, every galaxy, every living thing, is not just proof of power, but proof of love. This God who could have remained hidden has chosen instead to leave a trail of beauty, complexity, and design to lead us home to Him.

So pause today and listen to the birdsong. Watch the clouds drift by. Look into the eyes of someone you love and linger for a while. Let creation stir your heart, not just with amazement, but with longing. Because this world was made to reflect the love of the One who made you.

And that same Creator God is still calling.

“Come. Know Me. Walk with Me. You were made for relationship with Me.”
