He Is Risen

Easter Sunday - He Is Risen

Because He lives, death is defeated, and our hope is secure. We follow Him, the firstborn of the new creation, into life.

Passage: Isaiah 26:19, Isaiah 25:8, Colossians 1:18, 1 Corinthians 15:20–22

“Your dead will live again. Their bodies will rise again! Those who sleep in the earth will rise up and sing for joy!” Isaiah 26:19

Keywords: Resurrection, Victory, Hope, Firstborn, Life

Reflection

He is risen. These words have been spoken for generations. Across nations, languages and time.

And today, we join the chorus. Not saying something new… but declaring the same eternal truth.

He is risen.

Isaiah spoke of it long before it happened: “Your dead will live again. Their bodies will rise again…”

This was always the promise. That death would not have the final word. That the grave would not be the end.

And then… Jesus. (Isaiah 53) The suffering servant. The one who was pierced. The one who was crushed. He went to the cross. He carried our sin. He declared, “It is finished.”

And then He did what no one else could do. He rose again.

Not just as a miracle… But as the beginning of something new. “He is the firstborn over all creation.” (Colossians 1:18)

The first. The forerunner. The one who goes before us.

And because He lives… we have hope. “But in fact, Christ has been raised from the dead. He is the first of a great harvest of all who have died.” (1 Corinthians 15:20)

This is where it becomes personal. His resurrection is not just His victory. It is ours.

Because He lives, we will live. Because He broke the power of death, it no longer holds us. Because He rose, we will rise.

“He will swallow up death forever…” (Isaiah 25:8) Death is defeated. Death is not final. It has been overcome.

And so today, we don’t whisper this truth. We declare it. We join the chorus of believers across time and place:

He is risen. And because He is risen… we have life.

Application

Living today and every day in the reality of His resurrection and our sure resurrection.

Where have I been living as though death still has the final say?

What would it look like to truly live in the hope of resurrection?

Let today be a day of celebration and confidence in Him.

Prayer

King Jesus,

You are risen. Thank You that death could not hold You. Thank You that because You live, I have life. Help me to live in the reality of that truth today and every day.

Fill me with hope, confidence, and joy, knowing that my future is secure in You.

I join the chorus and declare: You are risen.

In your holy name I pray, Amen.
