Declaring the Future
Phase 2 – Two Servants
God proves that He alone is God because He declares the future before it happens, including the coming of the Servant.
Isaiah 42:1–9
“I am the Lord; that is my name! I will not give my glory to anyone else, nor share my praise with carved idols.
Everything I prophesied has come true, and now I will prophesy again. I will tell you the future before it happens.” Isaiah 42:8-9 NLT

Isaiah closes this remarkable passage with a statement that echoes throughout the whole book.
God says: “Everything I prophesied has come true, and now I will prophesy again. I will tell you the future before it happens.”
(Isaiah 42:9)
This is not a small claim. God is making His case.
Earlier in Isaiah He has already challenged the idols of the nations. If they are truly gods, let them explain the past or tell the future.
But they cannot. They are silent. Only the Lord can stand and say: “I will tell you what is coming before it happens.”
And here in Isaiah 42, God’s announcement includes the future coming of His Servant.
Seven hundred years before Jesus walked the earth, Isaiah is already describing Him.
The Servant who will bring justice to the nations. The Servant who will be a covenant for the people. The Servant who will open blind eyes and release captives.
God is not guessing. He is declaring. And when God makes a declaration, history confirms it.
This is one of the great anchors of faith. Our trust in God is not built on wishful thinking. It is built on the faithfulness of God, who speaks and then brings His words to life.
The prophecies of Isaiah were spoken centuries before Christ. Yet when Jesus came, people began to realise that these words were describing Him all along.
The Servant had arrived. And the God who declared the future had once again proven that He alone is God.
