Righteousness from Me
Phase 3 – Grace as the Means
Delivered and enabled, inheritance secured.
Passage: Isaiah 54:11–17
“No weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the Lord; their vindication will come from me. I, the Lord, have spoken!” Isaiah 54:17 (NLT)
“Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one, for God himself has given us right standing with himself. Who then will condemn us? No one, for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us” Romans 8:33–34 (NLT)
Reflection
This passage continues from the covenant of peace. What was established in promise is now described in the outcome. The Servant has accomplished the work. And we now see what that work produces in those who belong to Him.
“O storm-battered city, troubled and desolate…” This is where it begins, with the need. And a lack of stability, but with vulnerability. And yet God does not leave us there.
“I will rebuild you…” And not temporarily, or partially, but with intention and permanence. Foundations laid with care and structure established with purpose. This is restoration that lasts.
And then the focus shifts beyond the physical. “All your children will be taught by the Lord…” Formation. Transformation from within.
And next the defining statement. “Their vindication will come from me.” The turning point. Because righteousness is not achieved. It is given.
Security is not maintained by effort, it is established by God. Inheritance is not earned, it is received.
And because of this, accusation loses its power. “You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you…” And not because no voice will ever rise, but because no voice will stand.
This is clearly echoed in Romans. “Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one, for God himself has given us right standing with himself.”
The same truth, because our righteousness comes from Him alone. Our security is in Him alone. Amazing and beautiful, this is what grace accomplishes.
Forgiveness, yes, but standing and relationship. Not just rescue, but the inheritance, protection and assurance.
“No weapon formed against you shall prosper…” Let’s be clear, this does not mean opposition disappears, but it does mean opposition does not determine the outcome.
Because the outcome has already been secured in Him. “This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord…”
This is identity language, inheritance language. And not something that we work toward, but rather this is something we are brought into. And it all rests on one truth.
“Their righteousness is from me.” Not striving or from performance, but from Him alone.
This is both grounding and freeing, because it means what God has established cannot be undone.
Prayer
Lord Jesus,
Thank You that my righteousness comes from You. Thank You that what You have established is secure, because of Your faithfulness.
When I feel accused or uncertain, remind me that my standing is already settled in You. Help me to live in the security that only comes from you.
Teach me to trust Your work, and to walk confidently in the inheritance You have secured.
In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
