A New Thing — God Makes a Way

Phase 2 — Two Servants

God is not limited to what He has done before. He creates a way forward where there was none.

Passage: Isaiah 43:16–19

“For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness…” Isaiah 43:19 (NLT)

Reflection

God begins by reminding His people of a defining moment: “I am the Lord, who opened a way through the waters, making a dry path through the sea.” This is not just a story. This is salvation.

Israel stood trapped, the sea in front of them, the Egyptian army behind them, closing in to destroy them. There was no way forward and no way back. And God made a way.

He parted the sea. He led His people through. And He defeated the Egyptian army that was pursuing them.

This is who God is. He makes a way where there is no way. And then He says, “But forget all that…”

Not because it didn’t matter, but because it is not the limit of what He can do. “It is nothing compared to what I am going to do.”

God is not only the God of past deliverance. He is the God of present and future deliverance.

“For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?”

That question matters. Do you not see it?

The same people who were described as blind are now being invited to see. God is opening their eyes to something unfolding right in front of them. “I will make a pathway through the wilderness.”

Wilderness is a place of uncertainty. A place where there is no clear direction or no visible path forward.

But God does not ask His people to find the way. He makes the way. And often in ways we do not imagine or expect.

This was spoken into a real moment in Israel’s story, a people who needed deliverance again, who needed God to move again. But this promise reaches further.

Because the way God ultimately makes is not just a path. He is a person. Jesus said, “I am the way.”

The same God who made a way through the sea, has now made a way through His Son. Because He is the way, truth and the life.

Not just out of danger, but back into relationship with our Creator. And this is the invitation. Not just to remember what God has done. But to trust what He is doing now.

Even when the path is unclear. Even when you feel like you are standing in a wilderness. God is making a way.

The question is not whether He is moving. The question is: Do you see it?

Prayer

Father God,

Thank You that You are the God who makes a way where there is none. You have been faithful in the past, and You are still at work today.

Help me not to limit You to what I have already seen or understood. Open my eyes to the new thing You are doing.

When I feel uncertain or lost, remind me that You are the One who leads. Thank You for Jesus, who is the way, the way back to You.

Help me to trust You and follow where You lead.

In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
