A Church Divided

I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought. - 1 Corinthians 1:10 (NIV)

Reflection:

Paul's words are not a gentle suggestion, they are a heartfelt appeal. In the name of Jesus Himself, he pleads with the church to pursue unity. At the time, the Corinthian believers were beginning to divide along lines of leadership, choosing favorites, taking sides, and allowing preference to override purpose.

Paul calls them back to the heart of the gospel. Oneness in Christ.

This verse speaks directly to us today. In the world (and in the church) we are so easily fractured by opinion, ego, and allegiance, God calls His people to something higher:

- Agreement in what we say.

- No divisions in how we relate.

- Perfect unity in mind and thought.

Unity does not mean uniformity. But it does require humility, grace, and a shared commitment to Jesus above all else.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, teach us to be one as You and the Father are one. Help us to lay aside division, speak with wisdom, and pursue peace. Unite our hearts and minds so that the world may see Your love through Your Church. Amen.
